Workers’ Compensation
Workers’ Compensation
Self-insured workers’ compensation coverage for California public school districts, with claims administered by Keenan & Associates and loss control training for member agencies.
About ACSIG's Workers' Comp Program
The Alameda County Schools Insurance Group was founded in 1978 to self-insure workers' compensation claims for California public school districts. Today, our Workers' Compensation program includes 19 member agencies and covers over $1 billion in employee payroll.
At inception, ACSIG was a 100% self-insured program. Beginning in 1979, ACSIG began purchasing reinsurance for catastrophic claims. As of July 1, 2009, ACSIG reinsures through the Projected Insurance Program for Schools (PIPS).
Injured On the Job? Here's What to Do.
Anyone working for an ACSIG member district is insured while on the job. Any injury or illness that occurs while you're on vacation, sick leave, or otherwise away from the job is not covered under workers' compensation.
If you are injured on the job:
- Apply first aid as needed.
- File an "Employee's Report of Workers' Compensation Injury" form immediately with your supervisor or district HR office.
- Remember: it is the employee's responsibility to file this form as official notice that an on-the-job injury has occurred. Failure to do so may jeopardize your rights to workers' compensation benefits.
